This month’s featured artists are Old Lost John & Jess Bryant:

OLD LOST JOHN

Old Lost John is a Swedish artist who describes himself as “folk noir, twilight country or dusky acoustic”.  It’s dark brooding music subtly arranged and beautifully performed.  Vocals and guitar with mandolin and pump organ feature on the current album, The Ghost Of Calder Mountain.  For next album there are plans to introduce Celtic harp, musical saw and winophone into the arrangments - we’ll look forward to hearing that.  We think Old Lost John is an exceptional, yet so far relatively undiscovered artist that brings great atmosphere and intensity to his music.

Old Lost John has just been in Germany (Berlin) for a couple of gigs during February, and is currently booking a UK tour for May 2008.  We will definitely be on the look out for gigs near us.

Jess Bryant has a wonderful classically trained voice used to great effect in her highly original and emotive music.  Intelligent use of melody and vocal harmonies are a testament to her vocal and songwriting skills.  Her songs have an ethereal, haunting quality.  It’s the kind of voice rarely heard in contemporary folk music and we think that Jess is a true original - definitely one to watch for the future.  She regularly gigs in London and we have it on good authority that her live performances are as captivating as her recordings.  Follow the links below to find out more.
